How to be in Action, in 20 Steps, 7:16

  1. Breathe deeply a couple of times
  2. Consider, there are 24 hours in a day, let’s say you sleep for 8, that leaves 16 hours for work and ….?
  3. Consider how much time and money you spend on getting coffee in the morning, or, perhaps a beer, in the evening.
  4. Consider how much time you spend watching the “news”, or, your favorite TV show(s).
  5. Ask yourself, Am I willing to spend that much time and money each day/week/month to focus on the change I say I want?
  6. Consider the possibility that, it is you, that will make the difference.
  7. In 6 words or less speak, out loud, what you want.
  8. Get a piece of paper and a pencil
  9. Sit down
  10. Write down, on that piece of paper, what is that you would like to change or create.
    In 6 words or less.
    a. Caveat; You must write what you want, it is ineffective and it will break the spell if you write down what you do not want.
  11. Consider, it is only action that creates change.
    a. Note: Expressing opinions, talk, talk, talking is somewhere between ineffective and annoying, for you and those around you.
    b. Since everything in our world begins as an idea, pretty much anything is possible.
    c. Failure? Maybe? who is to judge?
    d. Silly idea? Really? sez who?
  12. Remember: Innovative ideas can/will look silly in the beginning.
  13. Go back to your piece of paper, this is the part where you make it up.
    a. Write down what your first step might be.
    b. Nope, you do not know what you are doing, no one does.
    c. Is it OK you don’t know? YES, in fact, it is better than OK, Innovation is the manifestation of dreams, by definition it is stepping into the unknown.
    d. So, if you do not know what you are doing, that is a good sign, it means you might be on the path to something new.
  14. Then, take the first action step you wrote down, and break it down into smaller steps, steps the size you can take each day (steps that will fit into the time and money that you determined in #5 above. Just tiny steps, in the beginning.
  15. Now, for today, set it all down and walk away from your idea.
  16. The next day, take your first tiny step
  17. Repeat each day
  18. Notice what you do that brings you closer to your idea, and, conversely, what you do that takes you farther away from it.
  19. Notice your fear of getting “it” wrong. Of what others think and say. Does it get in your way? Or motivate you? .... or both?
  20. Keep taking action, your first milestone will be taking your first step.
    a. Make sure to acknowledge yourself for taking each tiny step.
    b. The second is when you notice others wanting to join you on your path.
