My Fingers Remember You
My fingers remember you
The warmth and softness of your skin
My lips remember your lips
Over my years, my heart blown wide open,
sometimes broken only to heal bigger and stronger.
My heart fed and nourished by my loving community
Is this a dream/ or is it real?
You, knocking at my door, so quietly, your voice “are you asleep”,
So quiet tap tap tap, the light drumming of your fingers
Lapping at the edges of my consciousness
My response, “I am awake”, spoken from a place of deep relaxation
A slender ray of light squeezing past you as it falls on my floor.
Am I awake? A profound question in retrospect,
My immediate response was “yes”
The reality more like, somehow you discovered a hidden door to my heart, to my soul.
You had the courage to knock softly, tentatively, quietly
I awakened to your words.
Together we opened our hearts in a way neither of us knew was possible.
The magic of you
The magic of us
Filling our hearts, nourishing our souls.
So dreamlike, but no
Oh, so very real
My memories of our magic.
The touch of you and I
Our fingers touching
Lips pressed together
Your words gently filling my heart
Your words, in your native tongue,
My brain not able to understand those sounds yet my heart and soul filled,
understanding every nuance of your meaning.
Those sounds slipping past your lips, parted, turned up slightly in the delicious half smile of yours. Playful and irresistible.
Your eyes softly gazing at mine
I feel safe
I feel so loved
My fingers remember you
